About CargoCalculators

CargoCalculators is a free, independent toolbox for people who work with freight: shippers, freight forwarders, importers and exporters, buyers, warehouse and transport planners, and students of logistics.

Every day, someone in a logistics office needs a quick number — how many cubic metres a shipment takes, what an airline will charge on, whether a load fits in a 40-foot container, or what a product really costs once duty and tax are added. Those calculations are simple, but they are easy to get wrong in a hurry, and the tools that do them are often buried inside carrier portals or locked behind sign-ups. We put them in one place, free and fast.

What we believe

  • Show the formula. Every calculator explains how it works and includes a worked example, so you can check the result and explain it to a customer or colleague.
  • Metric and imperial. Freight is global. Tools accept centimetres and kilograms or inches and pounds wherever it matters.
  • Private by default. Calculations run in your browser. You don’t need an account, and the figures you type never leave your device.
  • Honest about limits. Results are planning estimates. Carriers, customs authorities and container lines have the final word, and we say so on each page.

How the site is funded

The tools are free to use. In future the site may show advertising and offer optional paid downloads (such as spreadsheet versions of popular calculators) to cover running costs. Free tools will stay free.

Accuracy and corrections

We check formulas and reference figures (such as NMFC density brackets, volumetric divisors and typical container dimensions) against published industry sources. Container sizes and payloads vary by manufacturer and shipping line, and tariff rules change, so always confirm with your provider before you book. If you spot an error or would like a new tool, email hello@cargocalculators.com.
